New Delhi:
A day after the militant attack on National Conference leaders in Kashmir, a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil reviewed the over-all situation including security scenario in the State.
The nearly an hour-long meeting was attended by among others Home Secretary Dhirendera Singh, Army Chief N C Vij and senior ministry officials.
Besides reviewing the internal security situation in the State, the meeting also deliberated on the measures and strategies to counter the militant activities.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and his son and National Conference president Omar Abdullah had escaped unhurt in a militant attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday (Oct 24, 2004).
Both the leaders alleged that the attack happened due to low level of security provided to them.
