New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Oct 26, 2004) dismissed the plea of Karnataka Government and another filed by an NGO seeking reconstitution of Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal.

The Court, while dismissing the petition filed by Gandhi Sahitya Sangh Trust supported by Karnataka Government, imposed cost of the NGO which had also sought restraining two members of the tribunal from visiting the Cauvery delta.

The petitioner had sought reconstitution of the tribunal alleging that serious differences among the three-member body has emerged resulting in delay in the resolution of the dispute relating to sharing of the Cauvery river water.
