Advani formally elected as BJP national president

New Delhi: LK Advani was today (Oct 27, 2004) formally elected as BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president by the party's National Council in New Delhi.

The former Deputy Prime Minister's name for the party's top post was proposed by outgoing BJP chief M Venkaiah Naidu and seconded by Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Jaswant Singh.
