Cong Govt policy is letting terrorism prosper: Modi Wednesday, October 27 2004 22:31 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Coming down heavily on the Congress-led dispensation at the Centre, Gujarat Chief Minister and senior BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Narendra Modi today (Oct 27, 2004) alleged that terrorism had increased in the country after the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government assumed power.
"The Congress-led Government seems to have a policy of allowing terrorism to prosper," he told BJP's National Council in New Delhi.
Terrorism had increased after the UPA Government came to power, in particular in the past two months after it repealed the POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act), Modi said.
The firebrand BJP leader accused the Congress of shattering dreams of Mahatma Gandhi and B R Ambedkar by deciding to provide reservation on the basis of religion, which was "against the spirit of the Constitution".
Flaying Premier Manmohan Singh, Modi said, "The Prime Minister is always missing. It is the first time that a Prime Minister is not seen."
On L K Advani taking over as BJP president, he said he took over reins of the party due to "new challenges" before the nation.
"Our concern is for the country. We don't know where the country is going under the UPA Government," Modi said adding due to this reason, Advani was made BJP president.
