Khurana's resignation accepted; Rajeshwar named

New Delhi: The resignation of Rajasthan Governor Madan Lal Khurana has been accepted by President A P J Abdul Kalam.

Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeshwar has been given the additional charge of Rajasthan, a statement Rashtrapati Bhawan said today (Oct 28, 2004).

The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader, who was appointed Rajasthan Governor by the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Government in January this year, quit the post on Monday (Oct 25, 2004) and returned to active politics.

The communique said, "The President of India has accepted the resignation of Madan Lal Khurana as Governor of Rajasthan and has appointed T V Rajeshwar, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Rajasthan in addition to his own duties."
