Thursday, October 28 2004 16:19 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Amid reports of leadership change in Uttaranchal, Chief Minister N D Tiwari had a two and half hour meeting today (Oct 28, 2004) with Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

What transpired at the meeting was not immediately known but sources said Tiwari was sounded for Governorship in Maharashtra or Rajasthan.

The sources indicated that Tiwari was on his way out and he may opt for a Gubernatorial post.

After his meeting with the Congress president at her 10 Janpath residence, Tiwari left without speaking to the waiting media.

Gandhi also had a meeting with senior party leaders from Uttaranchal including the PCC (Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee) president Harish Rawat, Satpal Maharaj and Rita Bahuguna.

Tiwari had earlier said he would abide by any decision of the high command.
