BJP differs on 'What to do after K'taka Govt falls?' Friday, October 29 2004 17:41 Hrs (IST)
Bangalore:
Opinion seemed to have been divided between two senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Karnataka over exploring possibilities of formation of the party Government in the event of collapse of the Congress-JDS (Janata Dal-Secular) coalition in the State.
"If the coalition Government falls, we (BJP) will not be a party for formation of another Government. We will face election," said the Opposition BJP leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly B S Yediyurappa, dissenting on the claims of former Chief Minister S Bangarappa, that the party would form a Government.
Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, Yediyurappa said it was true that Congress and JDS leaders who have been anxious over the stability of the coalition Government have been in dialogue with the leaders of his party, but it would not lead to another Government formation.
Bangarappa recently stated that his party was ready to form an alternative Government if the Congress led coalition Government fell.
Yediyurappa appealed the former Prime Minister H D Devegowda to mount pressure on the State Government to launch development works, which have come to a grinding halt, failing which to withdraw the support.
