Tamil Nadu Governor, P S Ramamohan Rao today (Oct 29, 2004) resigned his post.
Rao has faxed his resignation paper to the President, A P J Kalam, this afternoon with a request that the resignation be given effect from November two, Raj Bhavan sources said.
Rao, a former Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh, is the third governor to quit the post, after Madan Lal Khurana and Rama Jois.
Ramamohan Rao took over as the State Governor on January 18, 2002 from Dr C Rangarajan, the then Andhra Pradesh Governor who was holding additional charge.
His predecessor, Justice (Retd) Fathima Beevi, too resigned from the post before completing her term, following the controversial midnight arrest of DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) President M Karunanidhi on July 30, 2001.
