No peace, no investment in Bihar: Fernandes is upset Saturday, October 30 2004 22:58 Hrs (IST)
Ranchi:
Attacking the Rabri Devi Government for its 'failure' to create an investor-friendly environment in Bihar, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president George Fernandes today (Oct 30, 2004) said unless peace was 'restored' in the State, no one would come forward to invest.
''There is terror in Bihar. Unless it is gone, no investor would like to do business in Bihar,'' Fernandes, who is attending the three-day national executive committee meeting of the party, told reporters in Ranchi.
Accusing the ruling RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) Government of not putting
development on the priority list, he said one of the planks of JD (U) in the coming Assembly elections would be development.
Expressing disappointment over the abandonment of a weapons manufacturing factory which the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) regime had nearly completed in Bihar, Fernandes said had the factory was allowed to complete, 20-25 thousand youth would have got jobs.
''There are 39 such factories in various States, but Bihar had none. So I started one when I was Defence Minister. But that has been stalled,'' he added.
