VHP to snap ties with BJP if Ayodhya issue is diluted Sunday, October 31 2004 19:31 Hrs (IST)
Vadtal (Central Gujarat):
The VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) today (Oct 31, 2004) warned the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) that they would not mind snapping ties with the latter if there was any dilution of stand on the issue of Ram Janmabhoomi.
Expressing displeasure over the manner in which the BJP has been pursuing the issue of Ram Janmabhoomi, VHP working president Ashok Singhal warned them (the BJP) to deal with it more seriously.
"The Ram Janmabhoomi is more dearer to us than the BJP. If the VHP has to forsake either, we would prefer to dump the BJP," Singhal told a nine-day convention of VHP workers in Vadtal.
Stating that "the Ram Jamnabhoomi, Kashi Vishwanath and Mathura temple issues are non-negotiable," he said, "These issues cannot be solved by the courts."
"The minority community does not believe in negotiation. They only understand force," he added.
Top leaders including VHP international general secretary Praveen Togadia, senior leader Giriraj Kishore and others were present on the occasion.
