4 killed as suicide bomber strikes Tel Aviv market Monday, November 1 2004 18:27 Hrs (IST)

At least four people were killed and more than 30 wounded when a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowded market in central Tel Aviv today (Nov 1, 2004), police and rescue officials said.
"A suicide bomber exploded next to a vegetable stand inside the Carmel market," said the Israeli capital city's Police chief Commander David Tzur.
The open market is frequented by Indians and Sri Lankans in Israel as it offers variety of Indian condiments and vegetables at cheap prices.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PLFP) has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group said its Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades carried out the attack.
The group named the bomber as Amr al-Faar, 18, from the Askar refugee camp near Nablus, local media reported.
A large number of rescue personnel were rushed to the site near the intersection of Rambam and Carmel Streets, in the heart of the city.
Spokesman for the Magen Daviv Adom (MDA) rescue services, Yeruham Majdola, said that they were treating "a large number of casualties" without giving any figures.
Police has cordoned off the area and id that there weren't specific warnings for the Carmel market.
