Punjab CM to visit Bangalore to woo IT investors Tuesday, November 2 2004 19:08 Hrs (IST)

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh will undertake a two-day visit to Bangalore from November 7 to woo IT investors to the Northern State, a top Punjab IT official said today (Nov 2, 2004).
Punjab Information and Communication Technology Corporation Ltd (PICTCL) managing director Nirmaljeet Singh Kaisi told reporters in Bangalore that Singh would interact with IT leaders and urge them to expand their operations into Chandigarh and other cities.
The Punjab Chief Minister, he said, would meet Wipro chairman Azim Premji and Infosys CEO Nandan M Nilekani during his visit, besides showcasing the advantages of his State in the new economy sector.
Chandigarh Administration IT director Vivek Atray said there were about 200 firms in the region with a turnover of about Rs 200 crore.
Besides Infosys having an established presence in the region, Dell, Convergys and Quark plan to expand with their software development and BPO centres, he said.
