JD-S vows not to 'disturb' coalition Govt in K'taka Thursday, November 4 2004 18:28 Hrs (IST)

Setting at rest speculations over stability of the Congress-led coalition in Karnataka, its partner Janata Dal-S (Janata Dal-Secular) today (Nov 4, 2004) asserted that it would not "disturb" the Government and spiked as "gossip" that it was in dialogue with BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) for installing an alternative ministry.
"We have arrived at some agreement while clinching the formation of a coalition Government in the presence of tallest leader Sonia Gandhi and it is known to Chief Minister Dharam Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and AICC (All India Congress Committee) representatives Ahmed Patel and Vilasrao Deshmukh.
The Government should run on the basis of this agreement", Former Prime Minister and JD-S Chief H D Devegowda said.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting of the Karnataka unit JD-S senior leaders, office bearers, legislators and its defeated candidates, the first one to be convened in the aftermath of the recent Assembly polls, Gowda said, "We are not eager to go for elections".
He however cautioned that if his party was subjected to humiliation, it will not tolerate it and he would lead the campaign to strengthen the party.
Gowda, refusing the interfere in the functioning of the coalition Government and also ministry expansion exercise said, "It is for the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to form the full fledged ministry either tomorrow, day after or whenever they feel".
