Advani's return will lead to communal trouble: RJD Thursday, November 4 2004 17:37 Hrs (IST)
Patna:
Calling on the electorate to vote for the party in the Assembly elections due early 2005, ruling RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) in Bihar today (Nov 4, 2004) cautioned people against 'communalism and trouble' after 'hardliner' L K Advani's return as BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president.
RJD national spokesman Sanjay Paswan alleged that Advani was trying to widen the 'majority-minority divide' by speaking of 'Hindu revivalism, Hindu resurrection and Hindu neo-upsurge.'
''We apprehend that Advani will create communal trouble in the country, which the allies of BJP should also realise,'' he told newsmen.
Paswan said Advani's return, as BJP president had proved beyond doubt that there was a total dearth of second line leadership in that party.
Charging the BJP and its ally the JD-U (Janata Dal-United) with 'engineering a design to destroy the social fabric in the country,' he said in 1991 when the Mandal Commission recommendations were implemented, Advani had tried to stall it by undertaking a Ratha Yatra.
He also took a dig at the BJP for describing the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government's efforts to tackle naxalite problem as a threat to internal security.
