M'rashtra Governor's ADC booked for dowry torture Saturday, November 6 2004 16:56 Hrs (IST)
Mumbai:
Police today (Nov 6, 2004) registered an offence against ADC (Aide-de-Camp) to the Maharashtra Governor, Deepak Pandey, on a complaint filed by his wife Nidhi for alleged dowry torture even as the aggrieved IPS officer immediately moved a sessions court seeking anticipatory bail.
Pandey was booked for dowry torture following a complaint lodged by his wife last month, police sources said adding, the offence was registered at Azad Maidan police station on the directive of social service branch of city police which probed the allegations.
Pandey's wife is an IAS officer and working as Deputy CEO in the Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (MHADA).
Apprehending arrest, Pandey moved the sessions court for bail. He pleaded that he and his wife were cohabitated happily for several months after their marriage in February 2002. Later, differences cropped up between them and they filed divorce proceedings in family court where the case is pending.
Pandey alleged that Nidhi had come up with a concocted story of dowry torture and denied the allegations.
Referring to a statement of Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil in media hinting action against Pandey, the officer said he apprehended arrest because of this and sought anticipatory bail.
