LF chalks out weeklong campaign on fuel price hike Saturday, November 6 2004 10:51 Hrs (IST)
Kolkata:
The CPM (Communist Party Marxist) led ruling Left Front in West Bengal last night (Nov 5, 2004) demanded withdrawal of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government decision to hike prices of petroleum products and said that it would launch a weeklong Statewide campaign against it.
"We are totally opposed to the latest hike in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG. We want immediate withdrawal of the decision. The Left parties would organise a campaign throughout the State from November 8-15 opposing the hike," senior CPM leader and Left Front Chairman Biman Bose said.
Bose said that yet another hike of fuel price effected by the UPA Government particularly the LPG price would hit the common man most. He said CPM had consulted other LF constituents including CPI 9Communist party of India), Forward Bloc and RSP (Revolutionary Socialist Party) on the campaign programme.
