Saturday, November 6 2004 17:10 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: A special court conducting retrial of Best Bakery carnage today (Nov 6, 2004) extended to November 17, its summons issued to prime witness Zaheera Shaikh and her two brothers, Nafitullah Shaikh and Nasibulla Shaikh and asked the trio to remain present before it by then.

Prosecutor Manjula Rao told the court that she may ask for a bailable warrant against the three prime witnesses in case they failed to appear on November 17.

Zaheera Shaikh, on November 4, failed to turn up before the court which had summoned her although a day before she filed an affidavit before Vadodara collector withdrawing her aspersions about the Vadodara court's verdict acquitting the accused.

Zaheera had also blamed Teesta Setalwad, chief of an NGO, for pressurising her to identify innocent persons as accused in the case.
