Lead 'anti Laloo' front: Fernandes' appeal to Paswan Monday, November 8 2004 19:39 Hrs (IST)
Hubli:
Endorsing his party senior colleague Nitish Kumar's call to LJP (Lok Janasakhti Party) president and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, NDA (National Democratic Alliance) convenor and JD-U (Janata Dal-United) leader George Fernandes today (Nov 8, 2004) appealed to him to lead the non-Congress "anti-Laloo front" in Bihar to end what he called the "jungle raj" there.
A day after Nitish Kumar offered the LJP president to head a "grand alliance" to oust Yadav's RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) in the Assembly polls to Bihar due early next year, Fernandes said he would also appeal to Paswan that he accept the offer made by his party colleague "if Bihar is to be safe".
He said he would like Marxists also to join the front.
Fernandes alleged that the "Laloo and Rabri Government" was a "national shame".
He said he would like CPM (Communist Party Marxist), CPI (Communist Party of India), LJP (Lok Janashakti Party), BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and other small parties in Bihar to come together "to get the jungle raj out".
Fernandes said the Congress would not join such a front as it needed Laloo's support to be in Government at the Centre.
