11 sailors missing as cargo vessel sinks near Somalia

Ahmedabad: At least 11 sailors have been reported missing at sea while eight were saved after their cargo vessel loaded with food grains from Porbandar in Gujarat sunk near Somalia in the Arabian Sea near Africa last night (Nov 7, 2004), sources said in Ahmedabad today (Nov 8, 2004).

"The cargo vessel 'Sher-e-Hind' that left Porbandar port last week sunk late last night near Somalia and eight of the sailors managed to swim to safety while the exact whereabouts of 11 others, who were reported to be on rescue boats, is uncertain," advocate Kamlesh Dave representing cargo vessel owner said from Porbandar.
