Chennai: DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) today (Nov 12, 2004) congratulated the Tamil Nadu police for its 'honest action' by arresting the Kanchi Mutt chief Jayendra Saraswathi.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, DMK President M Karunanidhi asked 'if a virtuous woman commits mistakes, she can get pardon by taking a holy bath in Ganges but if the Ganges itself commits a mistake, where can one go for pardon?

Karunanidhi wanted a law to facilitate only 'virtuous persons' becoming saints.
