Sonia is waiting to pounce on MP, says Uma Bharti Friday, November 12 2004 17:38 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
In remarks that could be interpreted that she would want to patch up with BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leadership, suspended leader Uma Bharti today (Nov 12, 2004) told her supporters (MLAs) in Madhya Pradesh that the party-led Government should not be harmed at any cost.
She said the BJP came to power in the State on the basis of "hard work done by her and lakhs of committed workers" and nothing should be done that would give comfort to Congress.
On her way to Kedarnath, she told India TV on telephone that Congress party president Sonia Gandhi was waiting to pounce on the State to take it back to her party.
Asked about some communication sent by her MLAs seeking action against Chief Minister Babulal Gaur, she told her supporters that the matter should be left to party president Advani's wisdom.
The remarks indicate her willingness to have rapprochement with the party leadership after giving them a shock by challenging their authority two days ago.
The softening of her tone came after she met party president L K Advani and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee last night (Nov 12, 2004) before proceeding for Kedarnath.
She handed over a letter to Advani, most of which was devoted to emotional overtures although she maintained that she had found nothing wrong in her behaviour warranting suspension from the party.
