Suspended Uma Bharti arrives at Kedarnath shrine
Saturday, November 13 2004 12:48 Hrs (IST)

Dehradun: Firebrand BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Uma Bharti, who was recently suspended from the party on the charge of indiscipline, arrived at the famous Kedarnath temple in Garhwal Himalayas, her second visit to the shrine within a fortnight, official sources said today (Nov 13, 2004).

Bharti arrived at Kedarnath shrine, 200 km from Dehradun last evening (Nov 12, 2004). She took a palanquin from Gorikund to cover the remaining 14 km long stretch, the sources said.

She was sacked as BJP general secretary and suspended from its primary membership following her outburst in full glare of the media in a meeting of the party's newly appointed office bearers on November 10.

The following day, Bharti wrote a letter to BJP president L K Advani, contending that she had done nothing to invite disciplinary action.

Kedarnath temple, situated at a height of 3,581 m in the Garhwal Himalayas is one of Bharti's favourite haunts where she often takes a sabbatical from politics.

Last fortnight however, she mostly stayed at Madmaheshwar temple, another Shiv temple near Kedarnath.
