Saturday, November 13 2004 16:21 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Nov 13, 2004) spoke to Home Minister Shivraj Patil and expressed concern for the "security and safety" of Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati, who has been arrested in connection with a murder case.

Vajpayee spoke to Patil this morning, convener of BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) media cell Siddharth Nath Singh told.

BJP had yesterday expressed shock over the Pontiff's arrest and questioned the step and the "haste" with which it was taken.
