New Delhi: The Centre today (Nov 17, 2004) adopted a wait and watch approach in connection with the arrest of Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi in a murder case and said the law should take its own course.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Government has sent its report to the Centre with regard to the circumstances leading to the arrest of the Shankaracharya. The Centre had asked the State to provide detailed information with regard to the case.

The sources said the report received last week, however, did not give details about the charges against the Kanchi Seer.

The report said necessary steps had been taken to maintain law and order in the State.
