Shankaracharya's bail plea put off till noon

Chennai: The Madras High court will take up the bail application of Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswathi for hearing this afternoon when the proceedings resume after lunch.

When the matter came up for hearing this morning, the public prosecutor sought time to study an additional affidavit filed by the counsel for the seer.

He informed the court that a copy of the affidavit was given to him only late last night and required time to prepare his argument.

Following this, the Judge R Balasubramaniam posted the matter to 2.15 p.m.
