Gosh! Heavily guarded Vice President's house robbed Friday, November 19 2004 16:17 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
In an indication that even heavily guarded high profile complexes are not immune to thefts, some computer accessories are reported to have been stolen from the residence of Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
The CD writers and some other accessories have reportedly gone missing from the office of personal secretary to the Vice President at his 6, Maulana Azad Road residence, police sources said today (Nov 19, 2004).
The theft was detected on Wednesday after which an FIR was lodged, they said.
"Although the worth of the stolen property is about Rs 50,000, the theft at the Vice President's residence, which is a heavily fortified complex, is a serious matter," they said.
Police believe that due to the security arrangements at the complex, no outsider could have stolen the items and some insider might be behind it.
Lists of all those working and staying there has been prepared and police have started questioning them to identify the culprit, the sources said.
In view of the sensitive nature of the crime, the case is being monitored by top police officers.
