Saturday, November 20 2004 15:41 Hrs (IST)

Jiribam (Manipur): Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today (Nov 20, 2004) urged the 'misguided youths' to give up violence and join the mainstream to build a prosperous Manipur.

Laying the foundation stone of the Rs 726.56 crore 98-km Jiribam-Imphal Road (Tupul) railway line at Jiribam, Singh said militancy had to be stopped for ushering in development in Manipur.

He assured the people that the Centre would work shoulder to shoulder with the State Government for all round development of Manipur.

The Prime Minister also appealed to the people to help the Government in restoring peace in the State.

The Central Government was making every effort to develop the northeastern State but the people have to help the Government to bring in progress, he pointed out.
