Chennai: The Madras High Court today (Nov 20, 2004) dismissed the bail application filed by the Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi, who was taken into custody on Nov11 in connection with the murder of a Kancheepuram temple official on September 3 last.

Giving his order on the bail application in Chennai this evening, Justice R Balasubramaniam said 'I am dismissing the bail application at this stage.'

In his order, Justice Balasubramaniam said the petitioner had not made out any case for releasing him on bail at this stage.

He said the connected miscellaneous petitions filed by various interveners were also being dismissed without going to the question as to whether they were entitled to be heard or not.

Referring to the arguments placed by senior counsel, Tulsi, the judge said the offence was of a serious nature and that according to the prosecution, much more remained to be done in the investigation after the arrest of the Seer.
