Uma craving to return to BJP: Digvijay takes a dig
Saturday, November 20 2004 10:39 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: AICC (All India Congress Committee) general secretary Digvijay Singh, a known detractor of Uma Bharati, said that the suspended BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader was "craving" to return to the party fold as the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) had thrown cold water on her plans to float a parallel political outfit.

"As the Sangh has not paid much heed to her plans for launching a parallel outfit, Bharati wants an early return to the BJP" and her letters to the BJP leadership were indicative of this, Singh, who is a former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister told reporters in New Delhi.

Asked about her characteristic flip-flop of expressing willingness to apologise to the BJP leadership but also seeking a similar regret from the party on "ideological" issues, Singh said that this showed that Bharati, who is also a former MP Chief Minister, was a "confused" person.

"If Atalji and Advaniji want to apologise to her, I have no problem," he remarked tongue in cheek.
