Manhunt launched to trace abducted NHPC officials Sunday, November 21 2004 15:48 Hrs (IST)

Bihar Government has announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh to those providing clues about the kidnapped officials of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC).
State home secretary Girish Shanker told in Patna today (Nov 21, 2004) that the State Government will provide the reward to those providing "concrete information" about the kidnappers of NHPC general manager T Mandal and its chief engineer KK Singh, forcibly taken away in Vaishali district on Friday (Nov 19, 2004) while they were on their way to attend a meeting with the West Champaran district magistrate.
Director General of Police Narayan Mishra has constituted six police teams for their safe recovery, he said.
Special Task Force (STF) personnel would be assisting the police teams in raiding the hideouts of the kidnappers, DIG, STF, Vinay Kumar Singh said.
A massive manhunt has been launched to rescue the two officials and the borders with Nepal and Uttar Pradesh have been sealed, police said.
A high-level meeting convened by the police chief yesterday at Hajipur to secure the release of the NHPC officials was attended by special branch IG, A K Gupta, IG (HQ) Neelmani, DIG, Muzaffarpur range R K Singh, the STF SP J S Gangwar and the STF DIG, the police added.
