Chennai: The Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi, now in police custody in Kancheepuram, has instructed his lawyers not to move the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court order denying him the bail, according to mutt sources.

According to mutt sources, Jayendra firmly told his advocate, V Krishnaswamy, who has been permitted to meet him daily, that he should not move the Apex Court.

The Acharya was also 'actually not aware' of the bail petition moved on his behalf and was 'unhappy' about the proceedings initiated on his behalf, the sources said.

Yesterday (Nov 20, 2004), giving his order on the bail application, Justice R Balasubramaniam said the petitioner had not made out any case for releasing him on bail 'at this stage' and dismissed the bail plea.
