Seer's arrest: Karnataka BJP leaders observe fast

Bangalore: BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) Karnataka unit leaders today (Nov 21, 2004) observed a fast as part of their nationwide protests against the arrest of Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi.

BJP national general secretary Ananthkumar and State unit leaders, including party president Jagadish Shettar, squatted near the Mahatma Gandhi statue at a busy traffic junction in their continuing protest.

The party leaders had yesterday submitted a memorandum to Governor T N Chaturvedi and sought President A P J Abdul Kalam's intervention to put an end to his "ill-treatment".
