Patna: BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Nov 22, 2004) petitioned Governor Buta Singh seeking his immediate intervention to check the alleged overall deterioration in law and order situation in Bihar and release of the Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi.

A delegation of the State party leaders, headed by the legislature party leader in the Assembly Ashwini Choubey, called on Buta Singh at Raj Bhavan in Patna and submitted two separate memoranda to him in connection with the recent spurt in criminal activities in Bihar and press for immediate release of the Kanchi Seer.

Later, talking to reporters, Choubey said the delegation requested the Governor to forward the memorandum demanding immediate release of Jayendra Saraswathi to President A P J Abdul Kalam.

He accused the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) regime of unleashing 'all pervasive corruption, chaos and anarchy'.

The BJP leaders in their memorandum also charged the ruling RJD Ministers, MLA's and leaders with 'patronising the criminals involved in cases of kidnapping, murder and loot' and said because of this there was no respite from what they termed as 'State-sponsored' crimes.

Choubey claimed that more than 10,000 people have loss their lives in violence unleashed by the Ultra-Left outfits since 1990.

Earlier, the BJP leaders sat on a dharna at the main gate of the Raj Bhavan and shouted slogans against the Central and State Governments when only a five-member delegation was allowed to enter the Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor.

The security-men later allowed an 18-member delegation to enter the Raj Bhavan after seeking permission from the authorities.

Other State leaders in the delegation included senior BJP legislators Nand Kishore Yadav, Sukhda Pandey and Giriraj Singh.
