Appropriate legal steps at appropriate time: Mutt Monday, November 22 2004 19:24 Hrs (IST)
Kancheepuram:
Kanchi Mutt today (Nov 22, 2004) said appropriate legal steps would be taken "at the appropriate time" in the case against the Seer, Jayendra Saraswathi.
Asked by newsmen this evening whether the Supreme Court would be moved in the matter of seeking bail for the jailed Pontiff, the Mutt spokesperson, R Sankaran said, "Appropriate steps would be taken at the appropriate time."
Asked about Advani's visit to the Mutt, he said the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) chief spent nearly 20 minutes with the junior Seer, Vijayendra Saraswathi in a one-to-one meeting. Advani expressed his "distress" over the developments.
Sankaran also said several "homams" like 'Sudarsana homams,' which were started last week, concluded today with 'poorna hoothi' in the presence of the junior Seer in the mutt premises. The homams were performed for the well-being of Sankaracharya.
He also refuted reports that a third Sankaracharya was being appointed to the Mutt.
