PIL seeks transfer of Seer case to another State

New Delhi: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed today (Nov 22, 2004) in the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the arrest of Kanchi Shankaracharya in a murder case, alleging that the Tamil Nadu police was "showing bias" against the religious leader.

The petition filed by B P Singh, a BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) Rajya Sabha MP, accused the State police of implicating the Seer in the murder case and sought transfer of the case to another State, his counsel Harsh Vir Pratap Sharma said.
