JK must not stand in way of normalising ties: Basu
Tuesday, November 23 2004 20:13 Hrs (IST)

Kolkata: Kashmir should not stand in the way of normalising relations between New Delhi and Islamabad and the scheduled talks between Pakistan's Premier Shaukat Aziz and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh augured well, veteran CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) leader Jyoti Basu said today (Nov 23, 2004).

Spotlight: Kashmir is NOT negotiable

Describing the development as 'very good', Basu told sources in Kolkata, "It is very good thing that discussions have started. It is a difficult problem and has remained unresolved for a long time. Kashmir should not stand in the way of normalising relations."

He was optimistic that the talks would be fruitful in resolving differences.
