One more in-camera statement before Kanchi court Tuesday, November 23 2004 20:56 Hrs (IST)

One of the five persons, who made a "proxy" surrender in the Sankararaman murder case in which Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi is an accused, gave a statement under Sec 164 of CrPc in a court in Kancheepuram today (Nov 23, 2004).
Pandian alias "Dil" Pandian gave the in-camera statement before Judicial Magistrate-II V Damodaran, police said.
Pandian, produced in the court yesterday (Nov 22, 2004) also to complete the formalities for making the statement, was taken to the Chennai Central Prison after the deposition.
He along with four others had surrendered at a court in Chennai last month in connection with the murder of Sankararaman, a local temple official, here on September 3.
According to police, on interrogation it was found that the five had no involvement in the murder.
In another court development in the case today, police produced a van, said to have been used by one of the key accused, Kathiravan, in the JM-II court.
Kathiravan had last week made an in-camera statement before the magistrate and the particulars of the vehicle were today recorded by court officials as part of the proceedings.
