Chennai: Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi was today (Nov 23, 2004) formally arrested in a case relating to the attack on a former official of Kanchi Mutt G Radhakrishnan and two others in September 2002.

ADSP S P Sakthivel this afternoon served the arrest memo on the Shankaracharya at the Vellore Prison where he is already in judicial custody after his arrest on November 11 in connection with the Sankararaman murder case, police in Chennai said.
