Union Minister Taslimuddin surrenders; granted bail

Patna: Union Minister of State for Civil Supplies Mohammed Taslimuddin today (Nov 23, 2004) surrendered before the court of Magistrate S K Sinha in Patna and was granted bail.

Taslimuddin furnished a bail bond of Rs 10,000 and two sureties of like amount in connection with bouncing of a cheque for the purchase of a vehicle.

The First Class Judicial Magistrate had on October 5 issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Taslimuddin on the complaint of a dealer of an automobile company.

In the complaint, the dealer had charged the Union Minister with committing a fraud as a cheque of Rs 3 lakh drawn in favour of the company by him, for purchase of a vehicle was dishonoured.

Taslimuddin purchased the vehicle five years ago.
