Advocates arrested in ISI conspiracy case remanded Wednesday, November 24 2004 10:09 Hrs (IST)

The two advocates arrested on November 22, for their alleged role in the 'ISI conspiracy' case, were remanded early today (Nov 24, 2004) by a special POTA (Prevention Of Terrorism Act) court.
While, advocate Mushtaq Sayed was sent to three-day remand with city crime branch, 76-year-old H N Zhala was remanded to judicial custody and shifted to the U N Mehta cardiology hospital following a heart ailment during the proceeding that went on till the wee hours at POTA judge Sonia Gokani's residence in Ahmedabad.
Tight security was maintained with no one except prosecution and the defendants being allowed inside the judge's residence, as several advocates gathered outside.
Advocate A D Shah and S V Raju appeared for the defendants while advocate Sudhir Brahmbhatt appeared on behalf of the prosecution.
The advocates allegedly had links with Sharif Khan, underworld don and a POTA accused. The two had aided, abetted and raised funds for terrorist activities, besides having financial dealings with Khan.
The crime branch seized two imported pistols and cartridges from the Syed's house, while recovering the land deal agreement from Zhala's house.
Police also claim to have tapped telephonic conversation between the advocates and the gangster regarding the land deal.
