Wednesday, November 24 2004 15:48 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Nov 24, 2004) asked the people to strive relentlessly towards achieving unity of mankind and to work tirelessly for the uplift of the poor.

In a message to the people on the occasion of Guru Teg Bahadur's martyrdom day, Singh urged them to strive relentlessly towards achieving unity of mankind, to have equal respect for all religions and to work tirelessly for the uplift of the poor and downtrodden - the ideals that the Guru espoused throughout his life.

The Prime Minister hoped that the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur would serve to instil in the people a sense of sacrifice and tolerance and strengthen communal harmony.
