'If India takes one step, Pak will take two' Thursday, November 25 2004 09:33 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Asserting that resolution of Kashmir dispute would create the requisite political framework to closer economic cooperation with India, Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz last night (Nov 24, 2004) said that if New Delhi takes a step forward Islamabad will take two.
"It is time to accommodate in full the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. This is an imperative of justice, history and democracy," Aziz told the Indian businessmen during a meeting in New Delhi.
He said both countries could contribute to the success of the meeting of Asia Cooperation Dialogue to be held in Islamabad in April next year.
"The Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be resolved peacefully. It is important to associate the Kashmiris and to respect their legitimate aspiration," he said.
"If India takes a step forward, Pakistan will respond by two. We will demonstrate flexibility, if India chooses to show the same. In short, we are sincere and serious and expect this to be reciprocated," he said.
