Seer's arrest: CPM stage demonstrations in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) today (Nov 25, 2004) organised demonstrations all over Tamil Nadu, protesting against what it called "attempts to politicise" the arrest of Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi in the Sankararaman murder case.

At Chennai, demonstrations were held in two places.

Party volunteers shouted slogans against the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) for holding fasts and Dharnas to condemn the arrest of the Seer.

Speakers at the protests charged the BJP and Sangh Parivar organisations with attempting to "communalise" the arrest.
