BJP asks for fresh probe into Sankararaman case Thursday, November 25 2004 12:56 Hrs (IST)
Madurai:
The Central Government should order a fresh probe into the Sankararaman murder case in the wake of Kathiravan, one of the prime accused in the case, changing his earlier statement, BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) Tamil Nadu unit said today (Nov 25, 2004).
In view of the turnaround by Kathiravan before the Kancheepuram Judicial Magistrate-I Uthamaraj yesterday (Nov 25, 2004), the centre should make efforts to transfer the case out of the State, BJP State Secretary, H Raja, MLA said from Karaikudi.
The Central Government could not remain a silent spectator anymore after the new developments, he said.
Kathiravan had told the court that police had forced him to confess his involvement in the crime in which the Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi is an accused.
