Seer case is a conspiracy to weaken India: Bitta Friday, November 26 2004 13:51 Hrs (IST)
Ludhiana:
Alleging a deep-rooted conspiracy to weaken India behind the arrest of Kanchi Shankaracharya, the All India Anti Terrorist Front yesterday (Nov 25, 2004) said that it would file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court against the arrest of the Seer.
"This action (arrest of Seer) of the Tamil Nadu Government has hurt our sentiments," President of the Front Maninderjit Singh Bitta told reporters in Ludhiana.
To a question, Bitta alleged a deep-rooted conspiracy to weaken India behind the arrest. "Secularism does not mean antagonising the majority people."
He said that in a day or so he would meet the Shankracharya and after that he would file the PIL in the Supreme Court.
Bitta said that he had nothing to do with the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), but he saw reason in its stir against the Seer's arrest. The BJP has taken up the right issue which touches the heart of people and there is nothing wrong in it".
