PM pays obeisance at Bangla Sahib on Nanak Jayanti

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Nov 26, 2004) paid obeisance at the historic Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in New Delhi on Guru Nanak Jayanti and called on the countrymen to usher in a new future for India.

"Let us all unite to take India onto the path of development. We should all strive for peace, prosperity and universal fraternity," Singh, who was accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur, said.

The Prime Minister, who spent 45 minutes at the Gurudwara, was presented with a Siropa, a shawl, a sword, a plaque and a book on Sikhism. His wife was also given a siropa and a shawl by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) members.
