'PM keen on bullet train; feasibility study on'

Bangalore: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is keen on bullet train project taking off in the country, Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu said today (Nov 29, 2004).

"PM is interested in planning and execution of the project", Velu told reporters in Bangalore.

He said two Japanese firms have been entrusted with the task of feasibility study regarding the ambitious project.

Idea is to initially start service of such a train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Velu said, "and eventually between Bangalore and Chennai".
