Kanchi Mutt refuses to comment on Seer's case

Kancheepuram: A top official of the Kanchi Mutt today (Nov 29, 2004) said that the Mutt had no comments to offer regarding the murder case against senior Seer, Jayendra Saraswathi.

The mutt manager, Sundaresa Iyer, told reporters in Kancheepuram that the lawyer representing the Seer had informed the Mutt that both sides (prosecution and defence) 'should refrain from giving information through the press.'

Meanwhile, a women's police team, assisting the Special Investigation Team in the case, went around the town, making enquiries at various establishments connected with the Mutt management, police said.
