Shivsainiks attack their leader Prabhu's residence Monday, November 29 2004 16:21 Hrs (IST)
Mumbai:
Accusing former Shiv Sena leader Dr Ramesh Prabhu of "betraying" the saffron party alleged Shivsainiks attacked his residence at Vile Parle in Mumbai today (Nov 29, 2004).
"However, no one was injured in the attack but Prabhu's cars were damaged in the incident, which occurred at 11.50 hrs (IST) police said in Mumbai.
The Shivsainiks, numbering nearly 15-20, first inquired about Prabhu at his residence, and began raising slogans against the former city mayor and smashed windscreens of his four cars, police added.
Prabhu, who is down with malaria and was on the second floor of his residence when the incident took place, told sources that the alleged Shivsainiks were raising slogans that "they (Shivsainiks) will teach a lesson to traitors".
Four of his cars were completely broken by the Shivsainiks who alleged that he (Prabhu) has betrayed Shiv Sena, police said.
The attack can be attributed to the fact that Prabhu, once a close associate of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, rebelled and contested as an independent against the party's official nominee from Vile Parle during the recent Assembly Polls.
Prabhu said he had lodged a police complaint and senior police officials were investigating into the incident.
