A three-day international Telemedicine conference "INTERMEDINDIA-2005" with telemedicine for global health care as its theme will be held in Bangalore from March 17, 2005.
The conference sponsored and organised by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) is the first of the exclusive international conference organised in India covering various facets of healthcare delivery through technology based system of Telemedicine/Telehealth, focusing on population living in rural and remote areas, an ISRO statement said.
The conference aims to create awareness among various healthcare providers, doctors, administrators and others involved in the healthcare industry, about ways and benefits of adopting the emerging telemedicine technology as an effective tool for healthcare delivery, the statement said.
The meet besides evolving recommendations for establishment of telemedicine facility in India and other developing countries, will also discuss healthcare requirements in SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation) countries, Africa and South East Asia.
ISRO has been spearheading satellite based telemedicine programme in the country with about 60 remote district hospitals already connected to 20 super speciality hospitals in major cities using INSAT satellite, the statement added.
